Important: How to format your track list

Text Tool requires your track list to be formatted in one of two ways. Please read the following before moving forward.

This only applies to track lists, and is not applicable if you are just adding tags to a post text.

Below this section you will find two options for how to format your track list for use with Text Tool. The following points apply to both options.

  • Do not include any other text than the track list.
  • Each track needs to be on a line by itself.

Additional information is found below the two options.

Option 1: Using tabulator

Tab (tabulator) is shown asand has to be between each part, like this:

CueArtist(s)TitleMixLabel

An actual example would then look like this:

0:21:08.163Tag Adder & Snake CharmerAdding TagsSlithering Extended RemixTag Adder Records

Please note the following:

  • No spaces are needed between each part, just thetab.
  • It is optional whether or not Mix is enclosed in parentheses. The encapsulating parantheses will be removed if present.

This option can be useful for pasting directly from for instance a Google Sheets document, and it is what I personally do.

Option 2: Strict formatting

This option has stricter formatting requirements, but is pretty standard for how it would normally look written out. It follows this format:

Cue Artist(s) - Title (Mix) Label

Which would look something like this with actual text:

0:21:08.163 Tag Adder & Snake Charmer - Adding Tags (Slithering Extended Remix) Tag Adder Records

It is important to note the following:

  • There has to be a  -  (space, hyphen, space) between Artist(s) and Title.
  • There has to be a space between Cue (if used) and Artist(s).
  • Mix has to be enclosed in parentheses like shown.
  • There has to be a space on either side of Mix's parantheses between Title and Label (if used).
  • Titles that include a beginning or ending part in parantheses are supported, and it will not be read as the Mix.

Additional information regarding track list formatting

  • If Mix is not applicable, for instance with an ID title, you must write () instead for the Mix, as it can not be omitted completely. Text Tool will then handle it appropriately.
  • Both Cue and Label are optional. The other three parts (Artist(s), Title and Mix) are always required.
If used, Cue is required for every track, while Label is optional for each track individually.
  • Cue has to be in the format of h:mm:ss.xxx or hh:mm:ss.xxx. The trailing .xxx is optional, so without it would just be h:mm:ss.

Paste your track list into the text area below, and it will then be parsed and verified.
If verification is succesful you will automatically be taken to the next step.

If you make any changes directly within the text area, use the button below to re-run the parsing and verification. Pasting something into the text area will always re-run it.

Step 2: Options & Output Setup
Step 2: Options & Output Setup

The options that you set, and the custom output formats that you create, will be saved and restored when you return in the future, so that you don't have to set up everything again.
